Home News About us Programme Past meetings
We are currently trialling evening meetings on the 3rd Thursday of the month, and daytime meetings on the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays of the month.

We have decided that each month in 2017 will have a theme, so that people that can only attend one of the three meetings will still be able to take part. Hopefully it's a good idea - the committee are open to suggestions.

Demonstrators are shown in italics - where no demonstrator is given, this is a general discussion meeting for everyone to bring samples. No workshops are currently planned but this is likely to change.
Thursday meetings are 7-9pm
Wednesday meetings are 10.30-12.30pm
Workshops and other club events (specific details see below - please submit your name to Sheila if you wish to attend)

September 2016

15 AGM £4 membership due (subs free night). Your chance to vote for committee members and to have a say with regards to the future of the club. We welcome your input and suggestions for the programme for 2017.

We will be choosing a punch card and challenging you to use it imaginatively to produce a hat which will be a new category to be judged in our annual competition in October.
Also a chance to catch up with friends after the Summer break and to show off all the garments you have produced during that time! Everyone welcome.

21 A chance to experiment with different ways of using the chosen punch card for the hat challenge

12 Continuing with the hat challenge and any other knitting problems that you made need help with.

22-23 Bakewell Wool Gathering

26 There is a jacket pattern in the current Guild magazine that uses holding position to great effect and we intend to try out these techniques at this session.

29-30 The Big Textile Show (Oadby racecourse, Leics)

3-6 Stitching, Sewing and Hobbycraft (Birmingham NEC) B (Thurs 3rd Dec)

9 A continuation of the previous meeting – maybe to discuss ways of using this idea in other garments or to knit the actual jacket. Come along and be inspired.

17 Fitting.   Many of us struggle to get a good fit with our garments so we are going to have tape measures at the ready for those who wish to go home with a set of customised measurements. Don’t worry this will be done very discreetly without causing embarrassment. We will look at the Knitleader and Knitradar as well as Designaknit and hopefully solve some of your problems.

23 A continuation of the last meeting where those who struggle to use their Knitleaders /radar can get help to apply the measurements ready to use. A tension square will be needed for this.

6 Xmas meal (lunchtime) at Leicester College

7 Knitleader/radar problems continued plus the usual knit clinic to help with any other problems.

15 Our Christmas social where we all bring food and refreshment and end the year in style.
